Slow to start, but suddenly it grabbed me by the throat and absolutely wouldn't let go again. It's been a couple of days since I finished it, and I still find myself thinking of it, and remembering the atmosphere of the book. I may have to prioritize reading the sequel higher than I had originally p...

I think I might have read this when it first came out. I can't remember.

I loved the historical and alchemy aspects of this book but it dragged on a fair amount and by the end I was not as interested in the book or storyline. I think I may not pick up the rest of the series.

I really like world building and mythology within a book-built ...

I am not sure if I would have finished this book had I been reading it rather than listening to the audio book version. Its not that I do not find the story interesting and I DO want to know how it all ends, but the pacing made it difficult to immerse myself in the story. It is drawn out and moves...

After reading the reviews left by others I had very high expectations for the book which were, ultimately, let down. The book has an interesting premise, and tbh I was actually expecting something a bit more Harry Potter rather than the Twilight that the book actually turns out to be. The plot is sl...

Absolutely loved it. It's not what I expected at all, but between the quotes from literature, the supernatural politics and the characters, I'm sold. To the next one!

There were some sections that were a bit more drawn out than I think they needed to be, but I thoroughly enjoyed this book. The details are so layered between history and myth - I loved it.
