I've been reading these from A is for Alibi, and I've never found a rival for the bantering voice Kinsay has in the book. But I do think that Nina Milton's In the Moors (midnight ink) is now a bit of a rival...or not, as this series is almost done and Milton's is just beginning!
Exactly the book I wanted to read without being able to describe the type of book I wanted to read. So, there's cozy mysteries, which I would define as being the lightest type of murder mystery, and there's hard-boiled detective novels like Dashiel Hammet's which would be the toughest type of crime...
Kinsey Millhone is in many ways a typical P.I. Tough, strong, laconic. Falls seldom, but usually for the wrong person. A former cop, she lives in a tiny apartment with few possessions and quirky neighbors. Aside from the fact of her gender, not a whole lot to set her apart from the genre standar...

A known ladies man it seemed at the time pretty obvious that this wife must have done it. But once released from jail Nikki wants to know ...

I would be curious about the rest of the series but wouldn't be running to try to find them. You do...
I've been reading Sue Grafton for years and decided to go back to the beginning for a reread. I must say I'm enjoying it just as much on the reread as I did the first time around. Kinsey Millhone is in the tradition of a the hard-boiled private eye. She has the police background and the tough-chi...

Some of the writing was bad, but other parts were really good. The main character is frustrating - she seems to be smart at times, but can a...
