1/5; 1 star; DNFNope. I started this book and decided in short order not to finish it. The old 'rags to riches' theme and a surly alpha male just put me right off.

I thoroughly enjoyed the heroine and at least thoroughly believed how much she loved the hero, even if I stayed upset longer at some of his shenanigans than she did. I had heard that the Spindle Cove books were very entertaining so I thought I had a sure thing in my hands. It was a nice story but not exactly what I was hoping for. Our heroine was very much her own person which was good but I like my hist/rom men to be a bit 'badder' ;)

Lovely, lovely prose. Great characters. Pacing bogged down a bit. So sweet and charming though.

The mystery behind Kate's childhood dragged on and took up more of the plot than the romance. And while Kat...

One of the greatest strengths of Tessa Dare’s Spindle Cove series has been how well she has cast her characters and how much detail she has provided about the world they inhabit. Returning to these books is like revisiting old friends and hearing about their latest news and gossip. The secondary char...

3.5 stars. Fluffy, light--typical HR but with the added dose of Tessa Dare's usual wit.
