The way Sarah is portrayed is completely unrealistic, in my opinion. I mean, people like her because she can speak perfect French and she has a personal maid? Puh-lease.

I loved the movie version as a child and reading the book now, I found the story just as enchanting and moving. It has become one of my all-time favorites. It’s the story of a young girl’s strength and her kindness that are tried in the harsh reality of her position, which she manages to escape at...

This is such a beautiful book! The characters are wonderful - i love Sara, she was so sweet and lovely to read about. The story itself is charming and magical without there even being any magic. A Little Princess was one of my favorite movies growing up but I had never read the book. I enjoyed it but I think I prefer the movie just to see her stories come to life.

Or parts of life that seem out of control, jobs that seem hard, days when if there is just one more thing that get...

I grew up very familiar with the Shirley Temple movie version of the story and then later, the 1995 movie version and adored both. For many years I've wanted to actually read the book itself though. I have a beautiful hard cover of the book with beautiful color illustrations, but because of it's siz...

There is no doubt in my mind that "A Little Princess" by Frances Hodgson Burnett is a perfect classic. It's even in the title, as this story is clearly dedicated to every little girl who ever dreamt of being a princess. "I am a princess. All girls are. Even if they live in tiny old attics. Even if t...
