A Midsummer's Nightmare just was not very interesting or entertaining. The storyline was predictable and cliche. The main character of Whitley was extremely annoying and was, in my opinion, an emerging alcoholic. The characters aside from her are not terribly interesting either except for the guy sh...
Kody Keplinger has become one of my favorite authors when it comes to contemporaries that portray the realistic everyday life of teen girls. I have to say, I do not relate with the girls from The DUFF, Shut Out, or even A Midsummer's Nightmare; I come from a religious background you see. However, I ...
Really liked this. It lost a star because the MMC frustrated me and I still didn't like him at the end. Full review here: http://booksofamber.blogspot.co.uk/2012/08/a-midsummers-nightmare-by-kody-keplinger.htmlMore awesome work from Kody Keplinger. As usual, she is able to perfectly capture a teen l...
Rounding up stars, but this is about 4.7 for me. OMG I haven't cried reading a book in SO long. I really enjoyed this story, despite it being one big clichè after another. But hey, it was touching, emotional, well-written. And for a change- not a part of a series.
I'll be honest, I hated Whitley at first. She was just so disrespectful and cynical, and I personally could not relate. However, by the end, she did gain my sympathies and I actually grew to like her character. Nathan was a pretty great character, and I liked him. I also liked that the mother and fa...
I had no intention of reading this book. None. I hate this cover (Hate. It. It looks like a super-cropped image from a look book page in Seventeen...) and it's been getting all these comparisons to Catcher in the Rye/Holden Caufield, and I know, I know I am taking my life in my own hands when I say ...
Rating: 3.5 Stars Kody Keplinger is not the type of author who can be credited with originality. All her novels contain the same undercurrent of formulaic writing; however, there is something to be said of an author who manages to write an overblown story in a refreshing new manner. A Midsummer's N...
Whitley was being obnoxious from the start. We meet her day after her graduation party. She had sex with some random dude. She kept on complaining how her mother bitches all the time, then she is complaining about her father, his new house, her future stepmom and her kids. Surprise-surprise: the guy sh...
I love this cover! It depicts Whitley and all her "tude" perfectly! I was so excited to read this book and was able to do so earlier than I anticipated thanks to fellow blogger, Raquel from the The Book Barbies who graciously loaned me her copy. I *hearts* her!Kody Keplinger never ceases to amaze me...
Whitley Johnson is the epitome of a girl with daddy issues. She’s out of control, wild – she drinks too much, she’s less than careful with boys. Basically, she’s a mess. On the night of her high school graduation, a one night stand ends in her not even remembering the poor boys name…And she doesn’t ...
