Very good, and it made me think. A lot. But no fifth star because there wasn't any joy in it for me; just anger and sadness, and no satisfaction in either.
I was pleasantly surprised to find that I liked this novel. I usually don't find late-19th/early-20th century novels all that compelling or interesting but this was the exception that tested that rule.
