Very junior police official Erast Fandorin is on the case in Tsarist Russia of a series of suicide attempts that ends all too successfully. Naturally it all leads to an international organization bent on world manipulation,...

3.0 Winter Queen (Erast Fandorin 1)
Interesting read about the time before the revolution when, from the book's perspective, Russian culture was fairly advanced and "European." Without saying what it was, not a big fan of the ending.
