Very engaging once I managed to remember characters' names and the names of cities and such. The ending certainly reminded me that this book is aimed at adults, not children! I guess I've been reading too many of those YA fantasy novels...
A promising start to a brand new series. I like that the story is "slower" in that it has less warfare than most fantasy stories and has much more emphasis on politics and intrigue. The concept of the "andat" is also a very interesting take on magic.
I don't know what it is about this book. I sat down just wanting to have a quick peek at it to check out whether I like the style. And all of a sudden I'm 150 pages in and wondering what it is I like so much. i guess I'll just have to agree with other people's praise...It's simply elegant...it's alm...
