The consensus between my daughter and I is that this is our favorite of the Ark stories (so far) as compared to Jerry Pinkney's Noah's Ark and Jan Brett's On Noah's Ark as well as the versions contained within Tomie DePaola's Book of Bible Stories and The Bible Story. The illustrations are the attraction of this gentle retelling of the story of the Flood. Religion and destruction are downplayed. I didn't think Ackmed the mouse (or whatever his name was) was really necessary, but it was still a pleasant book to look at.
