Of all the Grisham novels out there this one stands out as not just a high-powered courtroom drama and a battle of wits but also as a testimony to the deep-seated racism prevailing in America's south. Not that Grisham hasn't explored complex subjects apart from just the legal, but this one must have...

This is one of my all time favorite books, it was the first John Grisham book i ever read and it took me less than a day to read it. It was heartbreaking and serious, and it was so full of character evolution and its just a book that touched my soul. In fact i used it as the basis of one of my debta...

I shed a tear at the end of the book. I am an old fan of Grisham's, but I wouldé never expected his first book to be so, so good. I loved it! It's an amazing lecture.

Really liked the beginning, but the second half really slowed down on the action. I also found some loose story ends. Characters had a very nice depth to them however, and the story is compelling overall.

Probably the only JG book I have enjoyed for multiple reasons. One I thought the storyline was heartbreaking, yet uplifting at the same time. Second, the court scenes were written to suck a person in and third it converted to film just as well. I haven't seen this with his other books.

brilliant book and one where I preferred the ending in the film compared to the book
