everyone's favorite author has a weak point or odd "off" work, and for Haruki Murakami, this is my vote. not that it's terrible. I think I was originally leaning towards the 4/5 after completion, and really, anything H. Murakami is instantly devoured, but after a little reflection and seeing all the...

it is a good book, the first i read of this writing style- the style that describe life in a simple, matter of fact kind of tone. it's about the dark, late hours of a night in tokyo. it's about pepole, living their lives, searching warmth. sometimes, their paths meet. in the thin (even in the broad)...

This is a very strong short novel by Murakami, a good entry point for those intimidated by his longer works.

So this is my first Murakami book. Especially with all the buzz surround 1Q84, I thought maybe I should give him a shot but this is all that Radnor Library had available this weekend. I really hope the rest of his books aren't like this one, because I might have to start worrying about a few of my f...

“Time moves in its own special way in the middle of the night. You can’t fight it.”After Dark was a short novel about what happens in the streets of Tokyo after midnight. After we close our doors, turn off our lights, there is a whole lot more happening outside that we might not be aware of which was...
Title and Statement of Responsibility
An interesting thought experiment about one night from dusk until dawn in Tokyo. The plot revolves around Mari, a young woman who decides to spend the night awake in the city, and the people she encounters. I found the almost fantastic passages focused on Eri, Mari's sister who remains in a dreamlik...

And here, she had a chance encounter with an acquaintance, a young man whom she blind/double-dated with her beautiful sister and another boy. From this chance encou...
