The main drive of this collection was to settle Rachel's storyline, and it does accomplish that. It also seems to settle the question of Brian's fluctuating powers. Aside from tying up loose ends, there's also a story guest starring Captain America, Iron Man, and Black Panther, set in Wakanda, a sec...

Varied a bit more in quality than it should have. The actual Alan Davis stories were pretty good, and served mostly to tie up any leftover loose ends from the previous 50 or so issues of Excalibur, including getting Jamie Braddock sorted. But the issues not actually by Alan Davis are less successful...

After Claremont left the title, Alan Davis took over both writing and art duties. This was actually a very good thing. Davis's art is a great fit for a more light-hearted superhero book like this, and I have to applaud him for giving all of the main characters their own unique and consistent looks. ...

The Cross-Time Caper is finally over, thank God. The storyline started with some promise, but by the end it was dull, uninspired and, ultimately, pointless. The last couple of issues are far better, but still not quite as much fun as the pre-Caper stuff. 2.5 stars, bumped up to three because the las...

I'd really like to give this four stars, because Kurt, but I just can't justify it. Don't get me wrong, I still adore him, and I'm having more fun than not... But I'm painfully aware that if I didn't love Nightcrawler so much, I'd get much less enjoyment out of this volume. The whole Cross Time Cape...

I seriously loved this stuff. The reason why is right there on the cover: Nightcrawler. My favorite character in comics, and one of my favorite fictional characters. If he's written in character, I'll pretty much like anything he's in. And so, not at all objective review here. I like this entire cas...

Slightly better than Volume 1, but I can't help feel that Steve Rogers returned to his pre-Serum state -- possibly because of internal conflicts -- had more potential than is fulfilled here. Sharon Carter does at least get something to do, although her characterization still feels like paint-by-the...

Artwork gets upgraded but with the departure of Joss Whedon, the story takes a bit of a nose dive. Still fun, good-looking, and entertaining, but not what the first four volumes were by any means..

Thor hooks up with a feisty Viking girl after he saves her village! Thor makes it rain in ancient Egypt and is immortalized in a bas relief! Thor ... mopes around Oklahoma for a while until he gets his mojo back!

This was a slightly silly story involving some ridiculous plot laid out by the Norse Goddess of Death. But it had a couple pages of Tony Stark riding a horse naked, and Iron Man/Captain America bromance. So it evened out in the end.
