This was my first Alex Cross novel and it was largely enjoyable. While it was entertaining enough I wasn't really engrossed with the story or the characters. Although I did have Morgan Freeman's voice running in my head as I read his character, so big plus there.I do tend to poke fun at James Patter...

I like Alex Cross just fine, but the whole concept of serial killers has gotten a bit tired to me. I prefer a more cozy, intimate murder.

I have been recommending this book for years. Yes, the movie adaptation was terrible…yes, some of the later Alex Cross entries were somewhat weak (I’m looking at you, “Viloets Are Blue”). But the first book of the Alex Cross series is still an amazing read. What really made this book work for me w...
