I really didn't care for this book all that much. The vampire for about the first 1/3 talks a lot of about eating (i.e., killing) the heroine, Jessa. Then all of a sudden he feels something for her and vice-versa? Not very convincing. The ending was good, but that's about it.

To my delight, American Vampire starts out as far from "paranormal romance" as you can get. I - and apparently netGalley - would classify it as horror, in which the everyman main character just happens to be a vampire. That's kind of awesome. I mean, it's nice to read a book involving vampires where...

This is the first book by Jennifer Armintrout that I have read and I am hooked. American Vampire kinda reminded me of an M. Night Shyamalan film...but on to the review...Graf is our unlikely hero and he had me with his inability to use a GPS....he is on his way to a party in DC and gets lost, he en...

This book often made me laugh. You have your reluctant hero in Graf, a city-slicker vampire who's lost his way because his GPS is defunct and he ends up in a creepy, backwoods Ohio town, the likes of which, hasn't seen a moving vehicle in, oh, say five years. You also have a piss-and-vinegar heroi...

Dark & gritty, not the typical vampire novel out today. A frightening look at how dangerous a closed minded society can be. Graf MacDonald is a metro vampire, he dresses well and likes the city life. He is also rude, arrogant, uncaring, judgmental and easily irritated. He is traveling when he is cau...

Not what I expected...in a good way!I was quite surprised when I started reading this book and found myself transported into a world similar to the great eerie tales of the master of horror, Stephen King. This is definitely not your typical vampire story. It's dark and full of mystery and suspense u...

American Vampire had me at "snatch magnet" on the first page. Jennifer Armintrout streams clever turns of phrase and dry humour with characters flawed enough to be real. Sophia and Marjorie steal their scenes, and Becky's over-the-top trashiness is a delight. From the cornfields to the high school, P...
