I struggled to get through this for a good portion of the book. I mean, I understand the appeal and hype; it's good good messages, road trip, dorky MC, all the things you should find in any popular YA contemporary novel. But it just takes forever to get from point-to-point. And then sometimes it jus...

3.5 starsOkay, first things first:I don’t mean to get all “that’s not a knife, this is a knife!”* on you, dear friends, but can I just say this? California is not a big state. Colorado is not a big state. Western Australia is a big state. Heck, even Queensland is a big state. Seriously though and b...

This review originally appeared at http://bellesbookshelf.blogspot.com/There are some books that are so lovely, they actually make you do a happy sigh and smile as you close them. This is one of them. That's not to say it's all fairy floss, sunshine and unicorns. Quite the opposite - Amy and Roger's ...

Amy & Roger's Epic Detour wasn't what I expected at all. Going into it I assumed it was going to be a funny, cutesy light story about road trip high jinx. Instead I found a funny, at times, cutesy, story with a lot of depth and heart. The passing of Amy's father really did a number on her. She w...

I'm a sucker for a good road trip novel, and this is a good road trip novel! I'm also a sucker for books with scrapbooky bits in them, and this has plenty - photos, cash register receipts, menus, and so on. They sometimes verge on twee (and I've no doubt some people may think them so), but it worked...

Surprisingly cute YA romance. I found the characters interesting and easy to relate to, and loved some of the secondary characters. Makes me want to take a road trip. Minus one star for abusing some tropes (*gasp* the only room left in the hotel has one bed?!) but it's still a very fun read.

Didn't think much of the beginning but it became better as it went along. Had to sniff back a few tears at the end.

I think Epic may have been over stating things. Don’t get me wrong the book was ok but really how Epic a detour can an emotionally stunted girl who’s most interesting hobby is her passion for musical theatre and an average guy with a random fascination with historical explorers have. The answer- not...

What to say about this sweet, fast-paced little road trip romance book?! I was pulled into the story from the beginning. Amy's a soon-to-be senior who has recently lost her father. Exactly how he died and the extend of Amy's involvement isn't made clear when we begin this story. Roger, a long-ago...

I don't know how stars to give this book, but let it be 4.myI expected to like this book more, but it was a little bit boring for me.Amy's father died in a car accident and her mother decided she wants a fresh start in Connecticut. Her twin is in rehab. So she has to live for a month by herself in C...
