I have to agree with another reviewer, this book did seem very much like Buffy the Vampire slayer, just replace Giles with Will and Buffy with Ellie. That said, I enjoyed the book a lot, even though the storyline was very similar.
This book was almost really awesome, but then it wasn't. While I liked that Ellie wasn't a predictable heroine (she wasn't friendless, super geeky, or completely perfect) she really wasn't all that interesting. In fact, she becomes so completely obsessed with being guilty that some mention of guil...
Rating: 2.5 StarsThe problem with Angelfire is that it's the type of book that makes you stop in the middle of your reading and say, "Where have I read that before?" It's a mix of multiple ideas, philosophies, and imaginations all rolled into one. For a less prolific reader, I guess this book would ...
4.5 as the real reviewCross posted here and at my blog: Take Me Away... On the Pages of Your Story When I originally heard of this book, I had saw a fan's rendition of the way they thought Will would look. I was immediately drawn to his green illuminated eyes and before reading anything else...
With the NCAA Tournament well underway, it's safe to say I've been glued to my TV screen a little too much to actually get a lot of reading done over the past few days. However, I did have the chance to pick up Angelfire, which I bought (along with its sequel, Wings of the Wicked) a couple of weeks...
This has got to be the worst book I've ever read. Okay, so maybe not that bad, but still bad enough for me to call it ridiculous. Honestly, I love demon/angel stories. And the story was definitely different -- Ellie doesn't know it, but she as been a warrior fighting against creatures from the Grim ...
One thing I do after reading a book is compare the summary (or synopsis) on the back of the book, inside of the jacket, or on Goodreads to what the actual story was about. A lot of times I find that the story's main plot points are nothing like what is highlighted in the summary. But this time, it...
Courtney Allison Moulton's debut novel introduces a world of reapers, angels, and one seemingly human teenage girl. The story is probably one of the most unique stories I have read and I was hooked from the beginning.Ellie was a bit of a wimp at first but that quickly changed. I had heard that she ...
full review on my blog, holes In My brainGoing in, I really thought Angelfire would be the paranormal that would blow me away and make me seek out more of its kind, but in truth, it didn’t. There were parts I enjoyed and parts I was wary of, but in the end I felt blasé.Starting with the goods—I real...
