Eh. Bones of the Barbary Coast was ok. Certainly the weakest and least entertaining of the three Cree Black novels. I listened to this on audiobook, and it was narrated by Anna Fields, who is an excellent narrator. She executed the voices and accents demanded of her by this novel in a very smoot...

I laughed a lot with this audiobook but I hate martyr heroines and the end was very disturbing. It's as if the author felt that she had to wipe the hero's face in @#$% just because he was selfish.

The language was lush and hypnotic, and the stories were compelling. There was more left out, one felt, than told- and a bit of research confirmed this. The anecdotes, while powerful, seemed disconnected and somewhat choppy. The narrator was quite good, save for a few peculiarities of pronunciation....
