Some of the historical details seemed off, but who cares? It's Gossip Girl set in the 1890s and that's good enough for me.

If I had read a novel with this much social manipulation set in the present day, I would have been annoyed and disgusted, or at least bored.Set it in 19th century New York, and I am really happy, and anxious to read the rest!

Enjoyable fluff. I just wish all the characters were as fun as Penelope, Diana and Lina were.

Gossip Girl meets The Age of Innocence. Except that there's not really any Age of Innocence here. I tried with this book, because my sister recommended it as enjoyable fluff. I tried to think of it as light and fluffy and inconsequential, a book to read as a break from heavier things. It didn't work...
