Anna Karenina starts on a kind note: a loveless arranged marriage between a young woman named Anna and her much, much older husband starts crumbling because Anna falls in love with a young man. So yes, love between people of the same age, condemnation of arranged marriages, and all that. However, di...

I did not find Anna Karenina easy to read. The novel spanned over 1000 pages (read: far too long), and covered such a wide variety of topics – eg. politics and rural farming – that, at times, I was heartily bored, and at other times I wondered why I was reading a story that I knew was going to end w...

Wow, what an emotional back and forth read. I think all the characters could have used a good shrink. I feel like I'm almost sane after knowing the inner workings of these people. ;) I'm very glad I took the time to read it. 3.7 stars

Anna Karenina was a much awaited read for me. Ever since I started reading classics, I wanted to get my hands on this one, but the only thing I was afraid of was the no. of pages and those small prints. But when I finally started reading there was no looking back, I enjoyed every moment spent with t...

Good book. I couldn't help but think how some of this would have played out today. The divorce would have been much easier to get. There might not have been some of the shame heaped on Anna as there was back then. The ending left me a little disappointed. It was mostly about Levin and his philisophi...

I read the other day that Anna Karenina was one of the three books Ayn Rand utterly detested. I smiled as I read the final philosophical musings of Levin, knowing exactly what exasperated Rand about the story. Having read The Fountainhead this past fall, it has a lot of similarities in its structure...

I've found this book very interesting looking back over it as a whole. I have such respect for Tolstoy and his ability to write characters and social commentary. The different nuances he put into the characters and the manner in which they react to events was incredible. The characters all seemed rea...

This story was very thought-provoking about the human condition. It's nice to see some characters found true happiness.
