I never read Anne of Green Gables as a child for whatever reason. I know my mom had all the books. I just never picked them up (sorry Mom). I really enjoyed this one. I felt it started a bit cheesy with the orphan who everyone loves, but she really grows on you. I can see why this series is so bel...
Oh my... You know I was actually looking forward quite eagerly to writing this review as I neared the end of the book. I truly love this old Canadian story. I first tried out the movies starring Megan Follows a few years ago just to quench my curiosity. I immediately fell in love with Anne Shirley a...
Let me make it clear that this review contains lots and lots of admiration for this book, Anne and nothing else!So “Why it took me so long to read such beautiful book?”
Read my full review here.I can’t think of a single negative thing to say about it. Now, hear me out. I think Montgomery creates lovely, complex characters. Reading the character dynamics and arcs was fascinating. When Marilla finally verbally tells Anne that she loves her, I was moved. As well, it’s...
I thought I'd read this once long ago, but reading it now, it felt very new to me. I remembered some parts of it, but others seemed completely unfamiliar. My only guess is that I confused memories of it with the TV adaptation which may have merged multiple books in the series. Either way, it's a...
Anne is an orphan girl brought to Green Gables by mistake. But she quickly charms her way into this sleepy little place and fills it with bright laughter and delightful chatter.This is a delightful book, something about the way Anne views life is just so brilliant and passionate. It takes a rare vie...
"We are going to be the best of friends," said Gilbert, jubilantly. "We were born to be good friends, Anne. You've thwarted destiny enough. I know we can help each other in many ways."(;
My mother read this to my sister and me when we were very young. Has there ever been a character quite like Anne Shirley? If you get a chance watch the Canadian production of this (made for t.v. on the CBC). It is one of the best adaptations of a book I've ever seen.
I loved this, Anne's imagination was amazing, it was great to read a book and be reminded of how we saw things as a child.Her relationships with people were also interesting, I especially enjoyed watching how Marilla and Matthew changed over the course of the story.
