This is probably my favourite of all the Anne books. I loved seeing Anne go off to college and the things that happened to her there. Of course, the major interest was experiencing her love life and seeing exactly who she'd choose to marry! I agonised over her decisions in this book and at times wan...
I confess that I once peeked at the start of this book before reading Anne of the Island to make sure Anne's story went the way I wanted it to. *hangs head in shame* However, when I did get around to reading it I enjoyed it no end. I loved hearing the story of Anne as she raised her brood of childre...
Anne finally goes to Redmond College to earn herself a B A degree, and she has a lovely four-year spell. She’s back with her old school chums, Stella and Priscilla and she makes a new friend in the unusual yet charming Phillipa Gordon. They get themselves a little dream house during the final three ...
Not as good as the other books in the series. I guess reading about Anne's children just isn't nearly as interesting as reading about Anne herself, or perhaps it just shows a tad too clearly that this book was written as the very last Anne book - long after LMM had grown tired of writing about her.I...
This is probably my favourite Anne book, although it's difficult to say as they're all good :) I love reading about her life at Patty's Place, and Redmond. Also, I think the Roy-issue is very well written and a very atypical inclusion in this type of book - although I am glad she ended up with Gilbe...
Anne in her domesticity isn't nearly as interesting as young passionate Anne. But I feel lucky that at least the first 4 books were great! Not many authors can sustain interest for that long.
I liked it better than the last book, but it still wasn't as good as it could have been. I think Montgomery started getting tired of writing about Anne, and tried to focus on the kids a little too much. However, some of the stories involving the children weren't too bad.
"I wonder why everybody seems to think I ought to marry Gilbert Blythe,"said Anne petulantly. "Because you were made and meant for each other, Anne--that is why. Youneedn't toss that young head of yours. It's a fact."*Sigh*
