Because I had dearly loved Heartbreak Hotel, I picked this up, expecting something similar. Boy, was I disappointed. But then, later on, I read more of Siddons books and loved them all.
Privileged white girl discovers empathy during the Civil Rights movement. I'd love to see YA readers discovering this.This was probably the most important book I actually read as a teen. It gave me my first insights into the struggles of others and the privileges I enjoy that others do not.
