I just finished reading this book and I am not entirely sure what I think of it. I did like it I guess – but thought it could have been much more. There were parts of the story that I felt could take off and get pretty intense and then they just kind of petered out. The story was a little disjointed...
This really wasn't up to Campbell's usual standards and I was surprised. Other than the early apparent suicide of Graham Nolan and presumably a flashback to an earlier death from a car accident (and something else), which both happen in the first 50 pages, nothing much frightening happens in this b...
An interesting psychological horror tale from the sometimes great but often inconsistent Ramsey Campbell. This is a nice combination of Lovecraftian horror and British folklore. Good but not one of his best.
