I loved Water for Elephants, and thought this was a great follow-up. The ending doesn't have the same impact, but I loved her unique characters and the role of animals again.
I was completely in love with this book after the first chapter, but after that everything went downhill. Gruen is really good at writing animals, but at everything else, she's somewhat lacking. This review says it better than I can.
