And, again, thank you so much for doing this! I thought about it, but was just overwhelmed by the prospect of using the BL search function, of which I am not a fan, to do it!
Themis-Athena's Garden of Books
And again, you're welcome! :)

I tend to search by ISBN (if necessary, as gleaned from Amazon or other online sources), which causes the book to be imported even if it hadn't been in the library previously. What really irks me, though, is the amount of green covers -- it's one thing if the imported book records don't include covers because there are none on Amazon, but often enough, the Amazon records do include covers, and they're still not imported, so you have to add them manually. Grrr!
Murder by Death
I'll do the covers and the record tidying - it's the least I can do after all the help you gave with the Bingo lists. And I have free time for the next couple of weeks. :)
Themis-Athena's Garden of Books
I can see a new joint project looming on the horizon ... ah, that teamwork-building effect of BookLikes lists! :D
Murder by Death
An unexpected perk I'll bet they never foresaw. ;)
Themis-Athena's Garden of Books
Hah. You bet they didn't!

I'm pretty sure that the Helen Simpson book (#53) was combined with a different Helen Simpson who is currently publishing. I was going to add a few covers, so I went to GR and couldn't even find Vantage Striker (literally the first time this has ever happened), but noted that there is a Helen Simpson who would not have been publishing books in 1931, since she wasn't born until 1959. At that point, I got discouraged and gave up. :)
Themis-Athena's Garden of Books
Oh yes, there's a whole bunch of author records associated with this list (and the "other books mentioned" listings) that need to be fixed. It's on my to-do list (and I suspect it'll sooner or later also end up on MbD's) ... just right now my focus is on getting the lists together in the first place. The BL database continues to be such a mess that, unfortunately, whether a given author record gets fixed today, tomorrow or next week just isn't one of my priorities. :(

Thank you for looking these up, though, and thanks for highlighting Simpson!

As for the green covers on the Edwards lists, I searched in vain for covers when I first put the lists together; the only reason there are any green covers left is that I couldn't find anything better yesterday. I'm probably going to give that search another whirl at some point in the near future, too; hopefully with better success then ...
Murder by Death
Yep - as I said above (b/c I commented first without reading all the comments) - it's now on my list too. :)

I've been going through the Halloween lists doing the same thing - making sure search works for them, tying or separating as needed, etc. so I'll just work these into the line up. :D
Murder by Death
Did someone else get Helen Simpson cleaned up? Because I just went through the list of her books and they are all hers (I found a few covers too).
Themis-Athena's Garden of Books
Well, I made a start disentangling the two writers. Didn't find a cover for Vantage Striker *anywhere*, though, however hard I looked ... :(
Themis-Athena's Garden of Books
Woohoo! Where did that Vantage Striker cover come from?! AND all the other missing covers?
Murder by Death
The Vantage Striker cover drove me nuts - I finally had to settle for that first page scan of an out of copyright edition.

The other covers... lots and lots of digging. I followed so many library links it wasn't funny... and there's some heavy photoshopping to clean up some of what I did find. :P
Themis-Athena's Garden of Books
Yes, I had a feeling there had to have been a LOT of research (and photo editing) involved. I know how much time it took me *not* to find anything! They're all looking beautiful now ... and BookLikes can rightfully claim to be the only book discussion forum that has editions with covers -- neither GR nor LT do!
Murder by Death
WOOT! We finally win at something database related! :D
Themis-Athena's Garden of Books
Always look at the bright side of life, you know ... :D
Murder by Death
Aaannndd now I'm whistling. :-o
Themis-Athena's Garden of Books
Not you alone. :D
Arbie's Unoriginally Titled Book Blog
I've read a grand total of three! Three! of these. I declare myself a Classic Crime illiterate.
SusannaG - Confessions of a Crazy Cat Lady
I read a good many mysteries, but I've only read 8. (I've read more from the secondary list.)
Arbie's Unoriginally Titled Book Blog
If one means crime in general, rather than specifically murder mysteries, then I find some gaping holes in this list. I haven't looked at the longer list yet...
SusannaG - Confessions of a Crazy Cat Lady
It's heavily British, that's for sure.
Themis-Athena's Garden of Books
... and that's the limitation that Edwards explicitly places on the book in the preface. This is essentially the style of mystery coined in the British Golden Age. Not noir, nothing past 1950 and -- for that matter -- nothing before 1900.
Arbie's Unoriginally Titled Book Blog
Well that explains that, then!
Murder by Death
5. I've only read 5 of these. And 90% of my fiction reading is mystery, so I have no excuse for such a poor showing.
Person Of Interest
One read and five already on the TBR pile. If we do an informal buddy read of Father Brown or Max Carrados (Stephen Fry narration) count me in. I've also loved the two Margery Allingham books I've read so far and definitely am up for reading more.
Themis-Athena's Garden of Books
There's a Stephen Fry version of the Max Carrados stories???

Definitely count me in for more of Margery Allingham, too.

(13 read on this list, 18 on the other one. Now I'm beginning to feel just a tiny bit less embarrassed about those numbers ...)
Themis-Athena's Garden of Books
Found the Stephen Fry / Max Carrados audio! (And instantly bought it. I'm such a pushover ...)
Person Of Interest
Oh, good you found it. I wasn't familiar with Ernest Bramah, but I figured I couldn't go wrong when I saw it was Fry and classic detective stories. It ran as an Audible daily deal a while back.
Themis-Athena's Garden of Books
Not an Audible deal hereabouts, alas (or no longer, for all I know :( ), but I got it online for less than I would have spent downloading the Audible recording at full price. So I'm set! :D
Person Of Interest
The member sales and daily deals don't run in Germany? Bummer. I paid a ridiculously low price for it which is one of the reasons I keep buying all these audiobooks! I'm glad you were able to find it for below Audible's full price.
Themis-Athena's Garden of Books
They do run here, but not necessarily for the same items or at the same time as in the UK and the US (the catalogue is slightly different, too). Since I only looked for the first time today, I have no way of knowing whether it *was* available as part of a deal at any given point in time ... it may well have been and I missed it; then again, it may not. (Schroedinger's cat in hindsight ...) Anyway, I ordered it, and that's what really matters! :)
Person Of Interest
Ah. I'd heard folks in the UK mention their sales were different than the US, but I wasn't sure about other countries. Audible is so convenient and inexpensive that I haven't bothered to look into other retail outlets.
