Picked this up because it won the Mythopoeic award.It was OK, but didn't really live up to my expectations - the storyline was just too familiar, and the worldbuilding was only so-so. Flat characters, plays on the "be true to yourself and find your purpose in life" theme nicely, but it was plain uninteresting to me. Plus, the religious element was underdeveloped yet used as a crucial part of the plot over and over again.
