I know this is labeled as a 'young adult' series - but Artemis is good reading for anyone over the age of eight or so. Dry humor in abundance, an amazing cast of characters and fun, complicated plots still make these some of my favorite books.

I thought this book was all right, but I didn't find anything special about it. I actually found Artemis to be a rather annoying character, and I didn't really have any sympathy for him. Besides, Artemis is the Greek goddess of feminism, so it seemed kind of strange as a boy's name.
One of my fifth graders issued a challenge, to which I could not say no. We were to race to the end of the series (at that time there were only five). I won, of course, but loved every minute of it. Nice, quirky series for fourth grand readers and up.
