Mr.Bryson changed the entire focus of my life with his Brief History of Everything, so it was thrilling to see this brilliant and comparatively new concept as a 1 euro paperback in the teaser box of a used book store. As others have mentioned, it quickly became clear that the book was long on researc...

Unsure about this book, it's different to what I would normally read. Some bits bored me and some bits fascinated me, took me ages to read though!!

I'm almost finished with "Inside the Victorian Home", and it looks like both of them deal with similar topics, except that the latter book focuses on domestic life in Victorian England. Just like all of Mr. Bryson's books, the audio was entertaining and educational. Love his stuff.

Bryson has a pleasant voice, but I found this too dull to hold my attention. I'd probably enjoy it more as a book than an audiobook.
