This is as close as one will get to an epic adventure quest by H.P. Lovecraft. If you're an old role-playing game geek like me, this will appeal to the dungeoneer in you. Plenty of delving and mystery in this one!If you're a fan of the movie Prometheus, you'd do well to hark back to the origin of ma...

Gets off to a great start. Middle part, where he goes through an exhaustive history of the Old Ones that he gleaned from looking at murals, is a little silly. Ramps it back up for the end. As usual, Lovecraft has a terrific, unique imagination, and his prose sometimes gets a little away from him.

An okay graphic adaptation that does not match Lovecraft's creepy, purple prose.

I read this years ago and loved it. That's what the rating is based on. Then I read the introduction to this edition, and Lovecraft was ruined for me forever. Which doesn't change the fact that this book is great, on its own, when separated from uncomfortable subtext.I recently wrote an article abou...
