There is probably nothing new that can be said about “Atlas Shrugged”. Nearly every adjective that could be used to describe it has already been used. Influential, polarizing, epic, boring, exciting, brilliant, stupid, philosophical, pornographic, difficult, challenging, best, worst…you name it, it’...

If you must read Ayn Rand, start with Anthem, move on (if you still must) to Fountainhead, and just look this up on Wikipedia. It's way too long.

Eerily prescient for when it was written. This book will frustrate some (i.e., those who believe more government is the answer to our economic problems) while others will be depressed at seeing their worst fears in print (those fears being: what happens if the socialists get their way in America). W...

When I first put this book on my "to-read" list, I really had no idea what it was. Now that I do know, I recken it would be a collosal waste of my time, and just make my head explode from seething anger.......But again, if I suffered through it, I could write an amazing vitriolic review that would ...

In some ways, this is a very bad book. The style is stiff and clunky, and the world-view she is trying to sell you has holes you could drive a train through. There is a nice putdown in One Fat Englishman. The main character has just been given a precis of Objectivism. He says "I bet I'm at least as ...

I read The Fountainhead as a teenager upon the recommendation of a friend. At the time I liked it - I saw it as simply a story about an individual who stood up for what he believed in. I was pretty much clueless about Rand and Objectivism at the time. I read this one later and had a lot harder ti...

I was visiting an old friend for the past few days, and she showed me this cover of Atlas Shrugged I made for her when we lived in Ukraine:It was a necessary repair, but it pretty much proves I should be a cover designer._____________________________________________Original review:I think Francisco ...

Classic. Be forewarned...... It takes forever to pick up steam. Stick with it. You will be rewarded tenfold for your effort. The plot and characters, well conceived, are really just a vehicle for Rand to express her philosophical beliefs. The book is filled with quotes galore and at times all the...
