A Children's Book About Beer? Yes, believe it or not—but B Is for Beer is also a book for adults, and bear in mind that it's the work of maverick bestselling novelist Tom Robbins, inter-nationally known for his ability to both seriously illuminate and comically entertain. nce upon a time (right about now) there was a planet (how about this one?) whose inhabitants consumed thirty-six billion gallons of beer each year (it's a fact, you can Google it). Among those affected, each in his or her own way, by all the bubbles, burps, and foam, was a smart, wide-eyed, adventurous kindergartner named Gracie; her distracted mommy; her insensitive dad; her non-conformist uncle; and a magical, butt-kicking intruder from a world within our world. Populated by the aforementioned characters—and as charming as it may be subversive—B Is for Beer involves readers, young and old, in a surprising, far-reaching investigation into the limits of reality, the transformative powers of children, and, of course, the ultimate meaning of a tall, cold brewski.

Another fantastic creation of one of my favorite authors. This book is just as fun for kids as it is for adults, and it's REALLY fun for adults. Learn the history of beer, meet the beer fairy, and have a book on the shelf that you won't mind reading to your kids hundreds of times.

Reminded me of Lemony Snicket, except much more sarcastic.

I tip my glass of beer to Robbins for this one. Remember in the movie Billy Madison he sees the penguin, Well Gracie sees the beer fairy who teaches her a lesson for drinking at the age of five. A children's story for adults with a happily ever after ending

Robbins uses some of the most muscular and flexible language I've ever read. His sentences are so finely crafted that each gleams. His skewed vision combined with his rarefied prose can make it difficult to notice when there's something missing. It's my opinion that as beautiful as this book is, it'...

D is for Dumb, Desperate, and Disappointing Drivel! You know a book is really bad when it's only 125 pages long and you can't even get halfway through it. I gave this one a whirl just to see what ol' Tom Robbins had been doing this past couple of years. Now I know. D is for Drinking too much beer. ...
