A modern twist on the Beauty and the Beast fairy tale. The writing is average and the plot, romance are a bit forced to fit within the classic tale. The kidnapping is particularly problematic for me in a contemporary story. I do like its message of beauty is on the inside as well as its commentary ...

Meh. It was ok, but felt a little bit too much like the Disney version to me. I also had a hard time with how "twee" some of it was. For example Kyle/Adrian's style of speaking changing from a more "normal" teenager to a "gallant fairy tale prince," explaining it by having the character think "what ...

As a retelling this was painfully literal, so much so that I half-expected the singing household items from the Disney version to pop up. A story like Beauty & the Beast in particular has so much metaphorical potential when placed into modern-day NYC, but instead the author played it very safe. The ...

This is such a sweet Beauty and The Beast book, a modern version of it. It was written in a diary format and I love it! Although I stopped loving fairy tales years ago, this book has been a very interesting read for me. The stuff are easy to figure out and the writing is simple.

For more of my review, visit Books For YA!Kyle Kingsbury was rich, hot and popular. He was almost perfect, if he wasn't such a jerk. Kendra(an immortal witch who disguised herself as an ugly, weird girl) have had enough of his arrogance and so she cast a spell on Kyle making him into a furry, clawed...

I wanted to like this more than I did. There were some interesting bits, and I liked it well enough to finish, but I spent most of the book thinking more about how I would review it, rather than getting lost in it.This is going to sound a bit stupid, but I had trouble suspending disbelief on this one...

I’ve watched the movie adaptation of this and was keen to read the book, so when I found it on sale I grabbed it! I enjoyed Beastly a lot more than the movie, and am looking forward to reading the rest of the Kendra Chronicles in due course. I think my favourite aspect is that the movie humanised Ky...

3.5 Stars. I really like this take on Beauty and the Beast. The fact that it was told from a boy's perspective was interesting. I also liked that the author did her research on the origins of the story - reading the epilogue was very cool!Intrigued to pick up her other books. I enjoyed her writing s...
