The relationships between terrorists and hostages is blurred through time, proximity and shared appreciation of art and beauty. This story really packed a punch for me. The onclusion is quite devastating. It took me, as it does the characters in the story, by surprise because Ann Patchett had wove...

The epilogue really threw me. The rest of the book, I get it. The epilogue, I don't get it and it makes me rethink what I read. Maybe I missed something. Maybe I didn't read between the lines. Maybe I need to read it again. LOL! It was good and funny how the story revolves around one singer. Very ni...

i love the writing in this book. it is so gorgeous. there is little that actually 'happens' in the way you look for a story to unfold, but i think that is part of the beauty as well.i don't remember the last time i read something this beautiful.

This book was given to my younger brother by a customer as a Christmas gift. I never saw him reading it, but every time he saw m...

I picked this book up and put it down numerous times and couldn't get into it. Finally, I forced myself to finish it because I wanted to see what book earned a Pen/Faulkner Award. I enjoyed the development of the characters and the evolution of the story. It was well done. However, I found it unbe...
