Big Fish tells the improbable story of Edward Bloom, a larger-than-life figure who, like Baron Munchhausen, cannot help bragging about his fabled exploits. As a young man, his wanderlust leads him from his home in rural Alabama into encounters with an unhappy giant, a witch with a glass eye that can foretell the future, a mysterious town called Spectre from which no one ever leaves, and, of course, a big fish that refuses to be caught. Now near the end of his life, Edward is visited by his sceptical son who wants to know which, if any, of the stories are really true...With Albert Finney as Bloom and Ewan McGregor as his younger self, Big Fish is filmed by Tim Burton in the fantastical style of his Batman, Edward Scissorhands and Sleepy Hollow. Visually the film is a knockout, with eye-catching and breath-taking set-pieces one after another and a host of cameo appearances from such as Jessica Lange, Billy Crudup, Helena Bonham Carter, Danny DeVito and Steve Buscemi. The NHB Shooting Script is the official tie-in with this major release and Oscar-contender from Columbia Pictures. As well as the full screenplay, it contains introduction and notes by the film-makers, a special 20-page section of colour stills, and complete cast and crew credits.
