This book is beautiful in a way that not many books are. I've loved it since I was ten years old, and I still love re-reading it to this day. It is a little sad in parts, but the wonderful characters and the truth of the stories they tell is so touching, it's never mattered to me.

Some were not. Sewell saw lots of cruelty towar...

NOTE: I read the Kindle edition, but it refused to come up in the listing. The first time I read this book I was seven and found it a sad, but wonderful read of the life of a horse, nothing more. Rereading it yesterday, I enjoyed it from a different angle, seeing for the first time Sewell's political...

Wow it's been a long time since I read this. I think it was maybe ... six years ago, approximately? I have no idea. But I remember loving it so much. I mean, I typically hate horse books. They're always like "Once there was a little girl who wanted a horse and then she got one. The end". Black Beaut...
