4.5 stars! What a great book! A friend here on GR recommended it to me and I couldn't be more happy. This book reminded me of Graceling in a lot of ways, but definitely still different in some.Saba is awesome. She's a strong, tough, almost alpha male type of character. She definitely had her flaws th...

I read this as my very first read-a-long with @respire_think and it was fun.... First this was the funniest thing I've ever done book wise...I'm not exactly shy but I'm weary of strangers so I'm not just going to email some random person if they want to do a read a-long. But Renae was awesome and ex...

I had trouble with finding a good book in the Dystopian genre that was on par with The Hunger Games. I thought to myself, nothing will be able to compare. I finally found its’ match. It’s this one. For sure. People who ask for other books like Hunger Games, I yell out Blood Red Road and nothing else...

I could not put it down! From the first scene with Saba where she and her fraternal twin brother Lugh are repairing the roof of their shanty home till the finale where they are riding off together with Emmi, Tommo and Nero this was a gripping grittily realistic tale of family, friendship, trust, love...

If there was ever a book that screamed "make me into a movie...LIKE NOW!!!" it is this one.The story is told through the eyes of Saba, twin of Lugh. Saba is on a mission to find and rescue her brother who was taken by the Tonton on orders from the King due to the fact that he was born under the midw...

An interesting read. I was somewhat reminded of "Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome" and "Waterworld." Strange combination, I know. This book wasn't really anything like either, but the tone was reminiscent of the two movies. I'd give it a 3.7. I was initially going to rate the book at a four, but I felt as...

Saba's quiet, isolated life with her father, twin brother Lugh and younger sister Emmi is turned upside down when a group of government troops called Tonton kidnap Lugh and murder her father. Vowing to find him Saba sets off in pursuit with unwelcome Emmi by her side. Battling the elements of a host...

In a sentence or so: Saba’s twin brother Lugh is kidnapped and she will do anything and go anywhere to rescue him.Saba, Lugh, Emmi and their Pa live on a little bit of dry, miserable land by a watering hole. They seldom see people, and when they do, they’re suspicious. And rightfully so, because whe...

After an endless wait for the audio version of this book to come to my library, I finally gave up and just ordered it from Amazon. It was money well spent. This is a wonderful book.I listen to virtually all the books I read. That said, I get to hear voice actors and narrators do all the accents t...

I knew within a few pages that Blood Red Road is special. It's something very unique in a market where almost everything is the same. I'm sad it didn't work for me. The pidgin english and lack of punctuation drove me batty.
