So first things first, this is more Urban fantasy then paranormal romance. I really only picked it up, because it's advertised at the end of Gail Carriger's Timeless... (One of those, "if you enjoyed this book, you'll enjoy this..." type of dealios)...however I don't see the connection. It wasn't ba...
Reading, Writing and Being Generally Awesome
This is an interesting twist on the classic vampire tale.Kristen Painter paints (excuse the pun) a fantastic vampiric society with characters that are realistic and easy to love.Blood Rights kept me wanting more until the end. I need to start the next book as soon as possible!

Actual rating: 3.5Original review: http://onabookbender.com/2012/02/08/mini-review-blood-rights-by-kristen-painter/Blood Rights has been recommended all over the place. Argh this book. I really feel like this was a book I should have liked - we are, for once in a YA title, given a reprieve from teenage angst and high school drama, and the traditional formula of "girl meets boy, must discover what boy is/how this relates to her". Here, however, Chrysabelle and Mal's relationship was just down right frustrating. I kept thinking... "just bite ...

Our introduction to Blood Rights comes in the form of Chrysabelle’s being pursued for the death and killing of her sire. Blood Rights isn’t your typical vampire story, there is certain uniqueness to this story that one not always find in the already saturated genre.Blood Rights has a great plot; the...

Blood Rights is the first book in the House of Comarré series by Kristen Painter. There was a lot of talk on Twitter and in different blogs about this book and this series in general and some of my friends recommended it. When I saw it available in NetGalley I knew I have to read it. I have to be hon...

I have to say that I was quite impressed by this book despite the absolute absence of GLBT people and problematic references to people of colour. Blood rights is essentially the story of what are commonly called dhamphirs. In this series they are known as comarré. They have been breed for the po...
