I'm enjoying this series a bit more than Abercrombies' (see my review of Last Argument of Kings) because it isn't quite so cynical and hopeless, and there are some characters who believe a better world is possible. Not necessarily easy...
Yes, definitely a worthy follow-up to Winterbirth . I'm curious to see what will happen in the final part. Fall of Thanes ??? I have no idea who will survive in the end, but I fear that the "good guys" might be in for some more nasty surprises before this one is through...
