Not sure what to make of this. The way the book started had me losing interest but I kept listening. Once it started it seemed to get straight to the point giving enough background info to get what had happened and in a way why. I was not drawn to any of the characters, Zeke was just too whiny and s...
My husband gave up on this one when he got a hundred pages in, and felt nothing was happening. So I wasn't too sure what I would make of it, but in the end, I liked it a lot more than he did. I certainly never felt like nothing was happening, and the core mother-son dynamic of the book I found parti...
This is a dark and sad tale set in Seattle. It's good, but the mood is so despondent throughout almost the entire book that it is a bit overwhelming. The saving grace is that some of the characters are full of sufficient vigor to pull you through.
I happened to pick this book up in the middle of a pretty severe book-hangover, so I found it a little hard to make myself trudge along through it. But so...
3.5 StarsBoneshaker is a steampunk novel that promises much but unfortunately proves to be rather flaccid. The novel droops, when it should rise to a crescendo and the final revelation proves to be delivered in a way that is anticlimactic. Yet, that said, this YA steampunk still has several positive...
I read Boneshaker because I haven’t read much Steampunk, and this one makes a lot of ‘best of” lists. It was fun, but ultimately lacking in depth. It was also fairly lazy writing, with a focus on providing a lot of pretty window dressing without putting much effort into building a solid foundation. ...
