Maybe I would have enjoyed this book more if I had been over the age of 9, and living in Britain, in 1996 when it was published. As it was, I spent a good deal of the time reading this book trying to decipher the Shallow, Bitchy, British slang, from 1996. American slang in the 90s was weird enough...
I read this one the first time back in 2000 and I thought it was good. I reread it again and it if it is possible I think it was even better the second time around.
2.5 StarsMaybe I would have liked this more if I hadn't loved the movie so much, but I just didn't get what all the hype was about with this book. I think that if I had read this first, I would have never gone to see the movie. I also found it hard to figure out the slang and the weight conversion...
If something makes me laugh out loud and come back for countless rereads, how could I not give it 5 stars? Bridget is, to me, is the original funny girl of modern British chick lit. I am constantly searching for anything that comes close to her voice, but always come up short. This will always be on...

A before GR read book. It was my first chicklit book and I loved it. I could not stop laughing while reading this book. Funny, cool and I sure would recommend it. Not to mention she is a Pride and P fan in it ;)
