Tana French continues to hit them out of the park. This was yet another fascinating psychological study of all of her characters. This time the story revolves around Mick "Scorcher" Kennedy and his new partner Richie Curran as they try to figure out the latest series of murders outside of Dublin. Ke...
I'm going to do two things I almost never do.First, I'll tell you how to read: Sit down and pay attention to this book. Read in large, uninterrupted blocks of time. Trust me; you will better be able to appreciate French's character evolution (or dissolution) and the many layers of the plot become al...
Wow, it's rare that a book completely surprises me but this one did. Tana French really excels in her genre and she's really the only author who really makes me devour her Murder Mysteries. It's usually not my favorite type of book, but French just does it so well -- character development, moving he...
The scene is gruesome and heartbreaking. Upstairs two young children, a girl and a boy, are found dead, probably smothered. Downstairs is a bloodbath with in the middle the children’s parents, both with multiple stab wounds. The father has also died but the mother is barely alive and rushed to hospi...

This is an author who I have read all her works in this series, but could never really get into the works. I thought they were written somewhat dryly and I frequently would find my mind wandering. A...

First off I think it could have been 100 pages shorter. scorchers inner ramblings had me tempted to skip a...
Truly awesome read. Very complex plot that isn't given away fully till the end. You never know exactly who to suspect or what is real or imagined. A very finely crafted tale indeed.
A lot of people don't seem to like this as much as her previous books. I do think Scorcher Kennedy is harder to immediately relate to, but for me, that was an added layer of beauty. The first crack in my heart was when he referred to Frank Mackey (star of the previous book) as his "friend". It just ...
