by Ben Aaronovitch This 4th book in the series started out differently in that there was no immediate connection to magic. As with most murder stories, a body is involved, but why Peter Grant would be involved isn't immediately apparent. I don't know if it's the story itself or too many people y...

This installment of the series meanders even more than book three did, to the point where I kept forgetting about plot threads until they were picked back up and then dropped again. It weirdly reminded me of watching Star Trek: Enterprise when the show switched from an episodic format to following a...

This installment in the Peter Grant series was so much fun and the plot twist at the end was so unexpected and exciting that I rushed right into the next book in the series, which wasn’t at all on my planned TBR list. And in my excitement, I originally put a 5 star rating on the book, but after furt...

I don't even know what to say! I am so gobsmacked right now. Look, everyone that I talked to said the same thing. This is slow as anything. I was bored while reading and maybe fell asleep around the 60 percent mark. Things didn't make a lot of sense to me and I was tired of Peter feeling torn betwee...

Series: Rivers of London/Peter Grant #4 A reread, of course, but one spent trying to figure out if clues to the twist at the end could be picked out. Some things can be read differently if you take into account the ending but I couldn't find anything blatant. No wonder the ending was so much of a ...

Ok, by far the best book of the series up to now. Excellent story and pacing this time around. Nightingale got some more page time which I appreciated and not to brag or anything but ....I saw the whole Leslie thing coming, it was almost inevitable the way the Faceless man arc was set up.

So there is a scene in The Godafther Part II where Michael grabs Fredo by the head and says 'You broke my heart.'Yeah. That is what happened to me with this book.Until that point, this book was a delightful meander. It felt like a Meander because, for the life of me I couldn't follow the central myst...

Oh, Peter Grant... I have such a crush on him! :) This is his fourth adventure, and it was just as enjoyable as the previous ones. I love that he's a regular copper, a geek and a follower of the scientific method, even when it comes to magic. I love that his world is so real (magic and all), the way...

Very good urban fantasy thriller continuing the story of Peter Grant, apprentice wizard and London constable. I couldn’t put this down and was completely unprepared for the plot twist. I need the next book NOW. At least there’s no chance of me forgetting what happened in this book before the next bo...

The pacing of this is deceptively slow; I think I need to reread it to grasp how all the moving parts fit together. But mostly I am left with an overwhelming sense of, "Oh, Peter." And Lesley. And Nightingale. They all need hugs.
