On a re-read, I'm lowering my rating slightly.
I could not put this book down. I kept thinking it was a bit odd that they never sought professional help for the mental trauma, but I was glad to see they found a way to address and cope with it. I'm looking forward to reading more of Michele's work.
I'm giving this a 4.5 rounded up to 5. There are faults but in all there's so much good stuff that makes up for the occasional head hopping mid paragraph and the start which is so saccharine sweet and goes on for so long, that if I hadn't been assured it got better, I may not have finished it.
