While mourning the loss of his father in the Louisiana Bayou, former All-Star catcher Tom Mason is hired as the new manager of the Yankees. When he is encouraged by the owner to take up meditation in his approach to the team, he begins to experience visions and dreams that are connected to the Yankees of the American Civil War. As his team pursues a World Series title, Tom notices personalities and tragic team circumstances that mirror the events from his ancient visions. As a Southerner, he becomes particularly obsessed with a Confederate Officer who perpetrates a terrible wartime atrocity against nine Union Soldiers. Has he somehow become an open portal to his own ancient past? Tom must secretly uncover the mysteries that seem to connect a modern day sports icon to the definitive American War.
