A co worker recommended this book to over and over. It actually feels like he's been talking about it for years. So I snatched it up at the beginning of the year when it was a daily deal book, but never got around to reading it. It seems everyone loves it, but me. I actually think I'm being pretty g...
At the beginning I thought this was only going to be two or three stars. The passages about the three sisters life in the 90s were a bit overdone. However, once I got past this I found the story completely engaging. It is like the gothic twin sister to The Forgotten Garden; a tragic story about the ...
I really enjoyed this book. I loved the plot and I liked the journey that Morton takes you on with the characters. I started off feeling a great deal of sympathy for Dolly and found Vivien cold and untouchable. However as the story progressed things started to turn - Dolly turned out to be an unreli...
DNF at 30%I give up. This "Little Red" is just too ninny for me to keep on reading this. Also there's lots and lots of "cheese". Also, the villain doesn't know "his" Spanish. -__________-Isn’t that right, mi amado?” Lobo squeezed, and Rojita winced. This type of phrasing...nope.
First book in a new fairy tale series (and my first book from this author), and it left me sufficiently intrigued about future characters ( like, who was that "wannabe" godmother?), for me to give the second volume a try. This one... well imagine Cinderella living in the wild west.In a ranch. And she...
I enjoyed this story. The suspense isn't the reader finding out what happened, but in the characters finding it out. Kate Morton's books are easy to read and her characters are all engaging in their own ways. Great story telling.
Actual rating 3.5This was my first audio novel, so I wasn't quite sure how I'd like it. It was ok after I got used to it. I could picture the settings and the plot unfolding, and I got a good sense of the characters. Most of the twists were quite well telegraphed but it was still an enjoyable journe...
* 4 stars * Ash Barker and his adopted brother, Nate, have worked hard and built a successful ranch in Wyoming. Just before winter, Ash broke his arm so he couldn't do all the work needed. Molly Murray had been looking for a job to support her younger sisters for years when she decided to go to ...
I got this freebie a few days ago. While it is not the season, I was in the mood of a short uplifting story and this shorty delivered. It dealt with issues of racism, gender discrimination but did not go too deep into it to overpowered the story and the main part, the romance. We have a grumpy ...
The book begins with a seemingly benign reference to Pandora’s jar, (not box, as commonly believed). The idea is dropped almost immediately and is not resurrected again until the last sentence. Yet, the idea pervades the novel. Three families are impacted by secrets, clandestine relationships, and t...
