While this instalment of the Kitty Norville series didn't really rock my house, it was an entertaining read. I think that part of the problem is that Kitty as a character and as a person, works best on personal, small scale things. She's only the save the world type if the world can be saved by h...
In "Kitty Steals The Show", Kitty accepts an invitation to be the keynote speaker at a scientific conference on the supernatural. The conference is in London which, of course, makes Kitty A Werewolf In London, a line the novel wouldn't have been complete without and which provided me with a soundtra...
Over the past few years, there has been a series of ‘XXXXX Destroy Science Fiction’ anthologies, but this is the first one I have read. While the title may smack of too much ‘I Am Woman, Hear Me Roar’, the anthology was quite balanced with characters of all genders, action and contemplation, mystery...
Anthology. I only read stories 1 through 6 so my rating is based only on those stories. 2.58 out of 5 stars. 1. The Truth About Werewolves by Lisa Tuttle. This story was very confusing. A woman is obsessed with werewolves, starts a support group to meet one, meets one who "changes" maybe, and then h...
This book starts with Kitty Steals the Show, the Kitty Norville book published in 2012. Stay with me. Vaughn was doing a signing in a small town in Alabama a few hours drive from here. A friend, who is also a huge fan, had just returned home from her father's funeral and needed . . . something. So w...
AudiobookI think this was a perfect end to a great series. Yes, none of the good guys were killed although a bunch of bad guys were. And also the angels and the demons and the Chinese gods all mixed together left me a lot confused, hence the missing star. The ending was a HEA (happy ever after - ish...
Different in tone from her Kitty books. This takes place in the future. The world is very unsettled, Russia is bombed, Seattle too. Average citizens have to go through checkpoints, carry ration books for staples, report all strangers, and know where their gas mask is. The story goes back and forth b...
I wanted to like this steampunky-themed book of short-stories, but it tried too hard at cleverness and told essentially uninteresting stories. The text does not deliver on what the fascinating illustrations promise. I gave it 78 pages, 18 beyond my minimum 50, and gave it up.
Anthology Average is 3 stars. There were a few I thought were pretty good, but nothing outstanding. One story I thought would be worth pursuing the series but was turned off by the blurbs. This anthology is worth reading if you want to read a series completely. 1. Retribution Clause by Ilona Andrews...
This is my least favourite Kitty Norville book so far. It was still a fun read but nothing that would have caught my attention if this was the only book in the series that I'd read. "Kitty's Big Trouble" starts well enough: Kitty is trying to validate some contemporary testimony that General Sherm...
