Like two pages torn from the same book, their ragged edges fit together perfectly, only he doesn’t know it. From the historical fiction author, N. E. Brown, of the Indignities Series comes this epic and romantic story about a young man, injured and haunted by the Vietnam War, who returns to Dallas, Texas, in 1964. Set against the rock-and-roll era of the 1960s, when casual sex and recreational drugs were the norm, a chance meeting on a road trip finds twenty-four-year-old Carson Chance smitten with Amy Warren, a young female hitchhiker. Sparks fly as the two loners reach out to each other. A private investigator, Carson offers Amy a chance to get back on her feet, until he finds she is wanted for murder. Angry and distraught, Carson sets out to prove her innocent. After Amy is proven innocent and released from jail, Carson distances himself from her only to find several years later she has become a motorcycle cop in his neighbor. Frequent stops by Carson’s house erupts a passion between them and their on again, off again relationship causes him to rethink his future. Carson’s back is against the wall when he refuses to help members of the mafia find someone, and they use Amy to blackmail him. Carson barely escapes death again, and his addiction to drugs puts him over the edge and drives a deep wedge between him and Amy, his one true love.
