After the first few pages, I felt i would find this book a tough read. The narrator's tone as the older woman was too self-obsessed; as the child, too detailed and a little unbelievable. An incredibly vivid account of the cruelty children are capable of inflicting on each other. I had the distinct impression Atwood experienced this abuse.

One of the best insider perspectives on childhood I've ever read. Atwood really remembers what it's like to be a kid.
