I got this as a free ebook on Amazon. The whole idea drew me in right away. Brothers Grimm, modern day and magic, what could go wrong? The general plot was awesome, the execution was really sloppy. The story jumped around really fast, the grammar was horrible and the editing was near non-existent. I...
I had trouble rating this book, but I ended up giving it a 3.8 rating. It's well written, the world is an interesting one, the world building was well done, the characters are complex and intriguing, the premiss is believable and the story is definitely gripping. But, for some reason, it was easy fo...
I downloaded this 18 months ago, not long after receiving my first kindle, and I was obsessed with freebies. Since then I've read a lot of books and I now know my tastes a lot better. This wasn't to my liking.I thought it would be some retelling of a fairy-tale but it wasn't quite like that. I'll adm...
This book has a really cool idea. Unfortunately, the writing is not up to par with that idea. There are numerous typos, which doesn't hold too much weight for me considering this was a free ebook, however the writing was really very poor. There was pretty much no character development. It was very p...

Some readers ca...

Much improved on the first! I will say, I did pick up on a few themes or settings that reminded me of previous fantasy novels or movies, but it was fine. They didn't feel like copies, per se, more like shadows or reflections of other books.I really enjoyed this book, and can't wait for the next.
A rocky beginning, but after about 2/3 in, I realized I couldn't take a break, and I NEEDED to finish. Then, I NEEDED the sequel. No cliffy, thank goodness, but the storyline gripped me by the end. I would say more of a 3.5, it definitely needed some help with the beginning 5 or so chapters. The...
