The narration was great and plenty of stuff happened, but I never got to spend enough time with any one character to really connect with them. I really wanted to love this one, but it wasn't the story I was expecting.

DNF. couldn't get into the writing style. this isn't the first book I've tried from Ms. Gregory, and it's not the first that I haven't liked enough to finish. It's not bad writing or anything; I think her style just isn't for me.

I had really really high hopes for this book. From the moment I read the blurb (actually from when I read the first half of the blurb, by the second half all I could think was OMGOMGOMGTHISSOUNDSOGOOD and I was barely paying attention), I was SO EXCITED to read this. It sounded unique and interestin...

There was potential here. Underdeveloped characters, just telling no showing. I really don't get what happened in the last half of the book it's like it became a different story.

I love the things that are in the Mid-evil era. The excitement of the forbidden romances excites me. Unfortunately, this books romance was not really forbidden-neither was it exciting. It didn't even really present itself until the near-ending of the novel. When Philippa Gregory did finally show us ...

Read This Review & More Like It On My Blog! This is a mess. I've long since grown out of most of my misguided, uneducated affection for Philippa Gregory novels, but any lingering chances I will read her subsequent novels were firmly ended by this read. From beginning to end, this is a dull, vapid and...
